It is so easy for people to complain about what’s going wrong in their life and find the shortcomings in a situation. Instead of pointing out what’s wrong, have you thought about what’s right? It can be hard. Please believe, I know! Reframing your thought process will allow you to improve how you handle difficult or negative situations but it takes practice to become a positive person.
If you are find yourself needing to have more positivity in your life but don’t quite know how, here are 10 ways for you to practice being more positive:
Affirmations should be positive statements to help you overcome negative thoughts. Write and place your affirmations down in areas you see the most. You can use sticky notes and place your affirmations in your planner, on your bathroom mirror or even on your desk at work.
2. Live in the moment
You can’t change the past or predict the future but you can control what is happening at that moment.
3. Get off of social media and put down the electronics
Social media platforms sometimes have a lot of negativity coming from other people that can be transferred onto you. Don’t allow others impact your positivity.
4. Write down your thoughts
It’s okay to vent. If you don’t want or have someone to vent to, get a journal and write how you’re feeling. Letting go of your negative thoughts will give you space to be filled with any positive thoughts. Write it out!
5. Acknowledge your accomplishments
Start giving yourself the credit you deserve. Take time to reflect on all of the things you have accomplished and embrace it.
6. Follow the 5 by 5 rule
If you’re not going to think about it in five years, don’t spend more than five minutes thinking about it.
7. Take time for yourself
We’ve all heard it plenty times before. Self-care is imperative! Take time to show yourself how important you are. You deserve every second of it.
8. Start doing things you love to do
Have you ever said I wish I could do this or that but don’t ever do it? Well, start doing the things you love to do. Get rid of anything that makes you unhappy and begin doing the things that brings you happiness.
9. Trust yourself more
By trusting yourself, you can have the confidence to not be afraid to do certain things. When you believe you are capable to beat the odds against you, you will feel motivated and valued.
10. Surround yourself with positive people
Be selective with the people you choose to surround yourself around. Spend time with those who bring joy, happiness and positive energy to you.
