In the words of our Sisterfriend Jenny, spring has sprung! Well if you live in the Midwest like us, winter is still lingering around but nonetheless, it is officially spring. One of my favorite things about the springtime is the breakout of pastel colors! There isn’t a color I shy away from or that I think is too bold. That definitely includes my favorite accessory, lipstick. When it comes to lip color, I usually stick to variations of reds, pinks and purples. There are five favorite lipstick colors that I enjoy wearing during the spring time that I think you would love to try!
I love bubble gum pink (or as I like to call it, baby shower pink) as a lipstick shade because it is bright but also very soft. MAC’s Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Asian Flower is my favorite in this color. This lipstick has the same look as a gloss and the application is extremely smooth. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued but NYX Narcissus and Revlon’s Stormy Pink make great substitute.
I have always been fascinated by orange as a lipstick shade because of the shock factor and I was confident that I could pull it off. It is bold and daring, just like my personality so I was convinced that it would work. I was already stanning for Fenty Beauty but when Rihanna launched her Mattemoiselle matte lipstick collection, I became obsessed. This lipstick collection includes an orange shade, Saw-C. The lipstick is very pigmented in color and does not dry your lips out even though it is matte. I cannot wait to wear this one during the spring and the summer.
I am sure you can tell by now, I am into unconventional colors on my lip. I fell in love with Maybelline’s Super Stay Matte Ink in the shade Philosopher by accident (because I was looking for a different shade), but it has been one of my best mistakes I have made! This liquid lipstick is so weightless, it feels like you have nothing on your lips. The finish is matte, it is longwear and I noticed that it did not stain my glass when I drank something or when I kissed my boo!
I have not found a shade in NYX Butter Gloss that I do not like yet and their shade in Sunday Mimosa is no different. This is a very shiny gloss that provides the perfect pout once it is applied. The best part about it is, it does not feel sticky on the lips like other glosses do. The coral shade combines pink and that tangerine color that I am obsessed with.
Whether you call it fuchsia, magenta or you interchange the names (like I do) this color is perfect to wear right when all of the beautiful flowers bloom. Maybelline Vivid Lipstick in the shade Wild Rose is just that, wild! The color shows up as soon as you apply it. Unlike the other Maybelline lipstick, this one is not matte. It is not as sheen as the MAC lipstick I love to wear but it does have a slight moisturizing shine. This may be one of the most fun colors I have in my collection!
Lipstick has to be one of my most favorite makeup products. I have been wearing it long before I knew how to beat my face. The bright shades are my favorite and I cannot wait to start the season with these vibrant shades.
