Do you need a metabolism boost? Metabolism is such a tricky thing when it comes to the human body. As we get older our metabolism slows down and it is harder to maintain it. It just makes you want to go back to grade school all over again when you could eat WHATEVER you want and not gain weight. It is very frustrating. When it comes to boosting your metabolism it has a lot to do with your diet. Here are some things that helped me.

Eat Multiple Small Meals

What works for me is eating multiple times a day, 5-6 small meals a day. Nothing heavy of course. A small meal consists of some kind of fruit, yogurt or oatmeal for breakfast, fruit or trail mix for snack, something light for lunch (tuna with fruit or vegetable), another fruit or something light for a snack, and for dinner (salad, soup, wrap, etc.) You could also do a light snack before bed but make sure you eat it at least 1-2 hours before you go to sleep.

Drink a lot of Water

The recommended formula for water consumption is for an individual to drink half of their weight in ounces of water. Example: 200 pounds = 100 ounces of water. To help with portion control, if you drink a cup of water before your meals then you will get full quicker and not over indulge with food.

These are definitely things that I live by. I feel as if I am always hungry, but I eat 5-6 times a day and they are small meals. People around me look at me and think, “dang she eats a lot and is always hungry”. When I get hungry, I snack on something healthy and that helps boost my metabolism. Exercise does help too, but as far as metabolism is concerned, it is mainly your diet.
