I am not a makeup artist by any means, but I really enjoy wearing it. Putting on makeup has to be one of my favorite hobbies. Fortunately, I have been blessed to go through life with very minimal acne issues, but as I have gotten older, I noticed my skin type went from combination to very dry. During the winter time I would get dry spots in combination with eczema breakouts on my face, so I would avoid makeup altogether. When I did wear makeup, I noticed that it would flake and crack around my cheeks underneath my foundation. Setting powder was an extreme no-go for me.

It did not help that all of the black beauty vloggers I loved had oily or combination skin. So none of their routines and tips on skin care actually worked for me. And remember, I do not have major acne breakout issues so I honestly did not have much of a skin care routine myself. I started to look for regimens for dry skin on Pinterest and Youtube, but there was not much information out there for the very dry-faced sistas. So I reached out to a makeup artist/sorority sister and asked what products I should invest in and finally came up with a skin care regimen that works for me.

Simple’s Hydrating Cleansing Oil

I cleanse my face with Simple’s Hydrating Cleansing Oil. I massage it on my face for a few minutes and then I wipe the oil off with facial wipes. This product I found at Walmart is amazing! It does not make my skin feel super oily after I wipe it off, but it does hydrate those dry, flaky spots that tend to form on my face when I haven’t given it any TLC. It is also an amazing makeup remover.

ELF’s Hydrating Serum

My second step includes using ELF’s Hydrating Serum to lock in that moisture. It has a light texture like moisturizers and adds extra protection from drying out of my skin.

LUSH’s Full of Grace Moisturizing Bar

Lastly, I seal both products with LUSH’s Full of Grace moisturizing bar. Now I swear by this moisturizer and I would invest stock into it because it is the ONLY inexpensive moisturizer I have found that really hydrates my face.

I use these three products daily. I instantly found relief from dryness using this regimen. I have not had any issues with my dry skin or flakiness under the makeup anymore. I am very happy that I found something that works for me.
